One could write a book on it.
I guess the best thing you could do, is meet some expats who have lived in the area you choose, and consult them before signing on the dotted line.
You could go see an apartment during the day, only to find out there is a bar that opens in the evenings, bkasting you with 17 thousand jiggewatts of plinky plinky music.
Advice from other expats will be invaluable in avoiding problems.
The other thing is accept that the first place you rent will most likely be temporary, until you find the ideal place to live.

thanks Rocky

Yes that is our plan,
durring the 14 days we have booked, going to research the area, and decided what part of the north side of the island is for us.
Hopefully get lucky and find something quick.
But still welcome any ideas, from anyone living near.
We are originally from Europe, ( Czech-Slovakia) but lived in USA,UK.
Stefan

Once you are in town, we/you can put the word out that you are looking, and see what comes up.
Deals come and go, so there's no sense shopping before arriving.
Then you run into varying opinions, as to where to live.
If everybody shared the same opinions about the ideal location, we would all be living in one place together.
14 days is ample time to find something decent, specially when you are renting.
Purchasing requires a lot more time and caution.
