I am going to punta cana 2/11 and my travel agent says that I need a birth certificate that has been issued within the past 4 years.I have my original . Has anyone encountered a problem ? Please reply asap.
As long as the birth certificate has an embossed seal from the issuing agency (city, state or county govt.) you will be all set.
I know for a fact that they check for the seal. I was there over the holidays. I had mine in a ziploc bag to protect it (it is 43 years old) and they took it out to feel for the raised seal. Make sure you also take your driver's license or some other govt. issued picture ID.
Next time I will get a passport, it is just easier.
