Very few commercial businesses are open after 6 pm on Christmas eve, if any. Even the colmados close so their employees can have Nocha Buena with their families.
Christmas day is almost a normal day here business-wise, and the usual places are open. 06 January is the replacement here for Christmas Day, and again, most places are closed after about 12.
If you want to see the shopping frenzy here, go to a toy store on the morning of 06 January - the women are like locusts in a ripe wheat field, trying to get that last toy for whichever kid they forgot.
