I was there with a friend in June 06. Our room was very nice, the pools & beach were clean and well maintained. The food was pretty good but the service was lacking. Overall I was happy with it.

Think about where you want your room to be and try and request a room near that area - as the hotel grounds are large it can take over 10 minutes by shuttle to get from one end of the grounds to the beach.

My son and his family just returned..told me that lots of people were "sick" at this hotel..both him and his wife among them. Lines outside the doctors office..were not a uncommon sight..blaming it on the food. I wonder if anyone knows if there's a waste treatment plant on that part of the island...if not..that could be the villain.

Is this the Bavaro Princess All-Suites that is by the plaza and has a casino?

Ok, in that case...

I've been there 3 times and will return in May. I always stay in the VIP/platinum section.

The only thing I dislike is how the front desk staff _sometimes_ do not behave like we expect them to in NA. We expect them to honor our wishes and do their best to help us out. They don't always do that, but sometimes they do. Luckily, if you have the platinum package you don't need to deal with them so much...the people at the platinum desk act as fixers for you.

We went with the VIP plan too.. Did you do any table games at the casino? BJ in particular?

No, I actually find the casino there kind of creepy...its never very busy when I am there. My biggest experience there is wasting 20$ on slots and getting ripped off buying some cash there. (you buy chips with your credit card, then sell the chips back. They seemed to get the best of me when I actually got my cc statement back home...to the tune of $30 on $100. I figure there was a commission and some creative forex happening there...
