Santiago / SDQ to Samana Help!

Hi, am booking a ticket now for D.R. and not sure about transport options.

Would love any assistance.

Should we fly into Santiago OR Santo Domingo if we're headed to Samana? Is it cheaper to hire a taxi from Santiago or take one of those flights from Santo Domingo to Samana? (And do they have only small single-engine planes on this route or bigger planes?)

Then ...

From Santo Domingo to Punta Cana, are the roads safe and is renting a car a good option? Or is it cheaper to hire a car / go by bus?

I see this has been somewhat answered in other posts ...

But we are going to Las Galeras and not LT, and so wondering if it's better to fly from Santo Domingo or take the car from Santiago.

I did this bus from Santiago route a few years back and the roads scared me to death. Perhaps the plane will be better?
