Is being HIV+ an insurmountable residency obstacle?

I have visited the DR several times and would like to retire there. I am HIV+ and read in the residency requirements that a health check for HIV is required. Is this an insurmountable obstacle in obtaining residency? If so it seems odd that I can visit as often as I wish but can not live there.

I suppose anything is possible in the DR if you pay the right person, but it will be a major problem, I'm sure of that.

Getting residency is not presently a requirement for living here. CC has been living here for many years in his own house with his own family and he doesn't have residency.
