UK Visa Advice Required Please?

Hi,

I am new to this forum, so apologies if my advice has been repeated thousands of times.

I am currently in the process of compling the paperwork for my DR boyfriend to visit me for 2 weeks in the UK. I would like some genuine advice on what documents are exactly required please? I spoke with our UK Vixsa office who were quite rude and unhelpful, which is why I found your forum.

If I am correct, the following documents are required from myself to send over: Letter of invitation (is this just a hand written letter or is there an official form to be completed?), 3 months of wage slips, 6 months bank statements, copy of passport.

He will be staying with me in my parents house. Is it advisable for my parents to also include a letter of invitation, bank statements etc..?

Also, I did hear that my documents would need to be signed by a solicitor. Is this correct?

Once my boyfriend has received these documents, he then needs to send these to the British Embassy in Santo Domingo with his information: UK Visa Application form, details of funds etc...

Is there anything of other importance which I may need to send? Obviously, I want to make sure that we have included everything!

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Vickie

Not sure how easy it is to get a visitor's visa to the UK but here is the website to check out the info and at least you know what your country requires for documentation.

Home?UKvisas

Good luck because to get one for Canada or US is almost impossible

I'm pretty sure he needs to present his bank statements and wage slips, not you. You need to provide a letter of invitation - handwritten is fine, as long as it is legible - remember you'll need to fax it to him if you don't send it by courier - which he should then present along with the rest of the documents, as well as an application form, photos and passport.

Hi,

Could anyone help in advising how to compile, and what to include, in a letter of invitation to the UK please?

If you know of any website links I could try, that would be helpful.

Thanks,

Vickie

i am no specialist but i have written few invitation letters. i'd go as follows:

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN (or even better, address it directly to uk representative in DR),
THIS IS CONFIRM THAT I xxx (name and passport/id number) INVITE xxx (name and passport/id number) TO zzz (city name).
I WILL COVER ALL THE COSTS REGARDING xxx STAY IN zzz.
THROUGHOUT HIS STAY xxx WILL RESIDE IN MY (my parents) HOUSE AT yyy (address).
PLEASE FIND ENCLOSED THE COPY OF MY PASSPORT, ALONG WITH THE COPY OF MY LATEST BANK STATEMENT.
SHOULD YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT ME.
REGARDS,
xxx

now, i think you have to provide YOUR bank statement since you are the one covering the costs of his stay there. i have prepared a statement like that for my colombian friend travelling with me to polonia. be prepared that english immigration WILL call you, no matter what time of the day/night he will arrive to the uk. that is if he GETS the visa.
good luck.

ps it was like an exercise from school, i had to write official letters by dozens.....

I think i read somewhere that you would have to prove your relationship with this guy too??? Or is that just for the fiancee visa???? I forget now. If you do, you have to have proof of phone calls to and from DR, emails, texts etc. I believe it is not an easy process either!

it depends if it is for a tourist visa or for a residents visa. Tourist visa need to say who you are inviting, where to, why and for how long. My father invited my husband and just said it was for Christmas, or a family event. it helps I think if it for a wedding or something like that.

He will need to take to the embassy in Santo Domingo:
letter of invitation from you
Copies of his bank statements. He will need at least 1000US$ in the bank and proof that you haven't just put it there for purpose of a visa. ie there is movement into and out of his bank over a while
Confirmation he has a job. letter from employer and copies of wage slips
Copies of any titulars, rental agreements etc for where he lives
Copy of his birth certificate (legalised)
Passport
Copy of his cedula
The cash - around 4000RD$

Basically he has to prove he has enough in this country to come back for - ie good job, or he owns a house, business etc, or has lots of money in the bank.
If they think he will stay in the UK then he will not get a Visa. if you want to know any more pm me

Thats great.

So far, this is what I will be sending to my boyfriend in DR:

Letter of invitation (from me and my parents as he is staying in their house with me)

Copies of bank statements/wage slips...from me and my parents

Copy of my passport

Copy of phone bills to show his number and how often we keep in touch

Once he receives these in the DR, he will then need to forward these documents of mine, with the following of his:

Passport

2 x passport photos

Details of monies, copy of wage slip, letter from employer

Do you think this will be all that is required? Or is there anything else I could include?

I understand that the embassy do not want too much paperwork to look through.

Thanks

Vickie

if it only a tourist visa that should suffice. do not overdo things. brits have strange senso of who they allow into their country. tell your friend to be nice and smile at the interview, i swear - it works.
but prepare him to be mistreated by immigration at the airport....
as matilda said: if he has enough to come back to - he should be fine.
also if he travelled abroad before and came back.
good luck

dv8 is 100% correct. They do not want to know that you are in love etc etc. as that is another reason why he might not come back. The rules are totally different if he is applying for residency. The most important thing is to convince them he will come back to DR and has no intention of staying in UK, and make sure everything is in order and well presented and the form is filled in properly. Do not make them work too hard to decipher everything.

UK Visa - Fiance, or boyfriend??

Hi,

Currently gathering as much info before proceeding with the UK Visa application for my fiance.

However, is the application process different for a fiance, as opposed to stating he is my boyfriend?

Any help appreciated

Maybe you should specify if he's coming for a week's visit or if he's immigrating to the UK. You've started so many threads we're getting lost. Keep all you questions in one thread, don't worry we see them all.
Someone already answered you in another thread, if he's coming for only a visit it's best not to mention he's your boyfriend because he has to show reason to return to the DR. ;)

And please post in the visa section, our resident Lawyer does not answer questions about visa's to other countries.

Thanks

I will eventually get my head around the workings of this forum!!

Thanks for your response.

Hi there,

Good luck with your application, it is very difficult to get a visit visa to the Uk for a Dominican unless he has a good job and resonable amount of money in the bank back there. They need to see he will definantely be going back. he will need a letter from his employer to say he has the time off work and his job is open for him to return. The less said about being in love etc the better. I went through all this last year and got refused!! Basicaly they told my boyfriend that they thought he would not return to the DR!!!

Good luck anyhow!
