Hey al.

Starting to research for my graduation holiday which I'll be taking with my gf in Jun/Jul.

Really would like to go to Punta Cana but must ask a couple things first..

1. How is the Majestic Colonial - Good for couples? Many noisy tourists? Huge resort? Good part of the beach? Rooms?

2. What is the best beach on Punta Cana? I'm seeing Bavaro alot.. But what are your personal favs? I am ideally after a postcard beach without millions of tourists.

3. Would you recommed any other luxury hotels for a couple? (doesn't have to be a couples only hotel). I saw Secrets Excellence, but the distance from the main Punta Cana is a bit off putting.

4. What's the weather like in Punta Cana in Jun/Jul, including rainfall etc?

Thank you so much to those of you who attempt to answer at least some of these questions. Research through Google is fine untill your head starts hurting unbearably ;).

My opinions

Hey al.

Really would like to go to Punta Cana but must ask a couple things first..

1. How is the Majestic Colonial - Good for couples? Many noisy tourists? Huge resort? Good part of the beach? Rooms? Majestic is a great resort on a wonderful stretch of beach

2. What is the best beach on Punta Cana? I'm seeing Bavaro alot.. But what are your personal favs? I am ideally after a postcard beach without millions of tourists.Bavaro beach as it is called is a very long stretch of beach, Majestic could be included as in the Bavaro beach

Thanks for your replys guys, much appreciated.

The Paradisus Palma Real looks good, I'll have to see if we can get that within our price range.

And also, can someone please let me know what the beach is like at the Majestic Colonial. Looking at Google Earth, the Majestic seems to be quite far away from Bavaro and I'm thinking that we may have to walk a long way to be at the good beaches?

Thanks!

I'm sure Wud will send you a link of a map of Bavaro Beach. You don't have to walk to be on a good beach you're on it. All the hotels a long Bavaro beach are beautiful. Its all the same beach you just walk up and down for miles. Majestic is a great property.

Ah, perfect, thanks!!

Stayed at Majestic two weeks in April '06; returning for a week in Nov. '07.

Any specific questions, let me know.

What are the rooms like? Clean etc? Towels?
Is there a far walk from the jnr suites to the beach?
Full of annoying kids?
How'd you find getting a beach chair? Also, 'your opinion' on the beach?
How'd you find Bavaro on the whole?
Would you recommend it to a couple both 20 years of age?
Any excursions?

Sorry to swamp you with questions! For whichever ones you choose to answer, I'm greatly appreciative! Thank you.

We just returned from DR. The 8th trip to Holiday Village/Jack Tar. Loved it but would like something different in October. How does Majestic compare? I like this fact that it's not huge.

All Jr. Suites with whirlpool tubs, separate shower (huge), four poster bed and lots of marble. Very clean and lots of towels. We took our own face cloths as many resorts don't have them, so I don't remember here.

Is there a far walk from the jnr suites to the beach?

The buildings extend from the lobby to the beach so it depends on the location of your room. Maximum walk is less than 5 minutes.

Full of annoying kids?

Very few kids when we were there in April/06.

How'd you find getting a beach chair? Also, 'your opinion' on the beach?

I'm an early riser so we had our pick of locations. The beach is gorgeous.

How'd you find Bavaro on the whole?

For a location I prefer the North Coast but we have to go to Punta Cana every so often so my wife can get her beach fix.

Would you recommend it to a couple both 20 years of age?

Young couples seemed to be having a great time.

Any excursions?

We went on a long day trip to Sto. Dgo. and had a great time.

FWIW, we are returning in November for a week - the first time we have intentionally returned to the same resort.

Most tourists prefer the beaches in Punta Cana much more than those on the North Coast and generally the resorts are newer and more upscale. But no wave pool in Punta Cana - LOL.

I think you would love Majestic.

Wow, thank you so much! You've tipped the scale far enough in favour of the Majestic so we shall be booking it tomorrow!

I've secured 14 nights in a jnr. suite for ?1129 all inclsuive. Sounds pretty attractive.. its he best deal I could find.

Thanks again, so much help! I owe you!

Must admit---wave pool was fun, but time for change. Do you know anything about the golf course there? Also, one of the reasons we loved Jack Tar was the proximity to the casino. Is there one within walking distance of Majestic?

Someone described the Maj Col as beng a heaven on earth. He said that the room he stayed in had marble bathroom floor and was very clean.

Unofrtunately, I dunno if I can find out what categroy of room he stayed in as he wont respond to my msg. on TripAdvisor.

Just wondering if anyone can tell me about the Junior Suite Garden/Pool view rooms? Just briefly. Cleanliness? Decor? Location?

I ask because I cant find pictures of particular room categories on their website.

Please also let me know (if you can) which section of Junior Suites Garden/Pool views has been most recently renovated and also which section lies closest to the beach.

As always, infinitely appreciated, truely!

They all have marble floors and are immaculately clean.

There are only a couple of differences possible as they are essentially all the same...

Dark wood or light wood furniture are the only differences. All very clean. Scattered all over the resort.

Renovated??? The entire resort only opened on December 15/05 and isn't yet a year and a half old. Rooms with numbers ending closer to 50 are closest to the beach and those with numbers ending closer to 01 are closest to the lobby.

Knowing the room # locations is great info to have. If you have any info about the casino please post it. Would like to know if there are table games or just slots.
