I drove from Santo Domingo to Las Terrenas in September 2006 and they had only started working on the new highway. I enjoyed driving on the autopista, but it was only a short portion of the SD-LT journey. My drive took about 5 hours and I am looking forward to the highway being finished so that this journey will be quicker. When I was there in September, I think only about 10 miles of the new highway were complete at that time.
