I have been reviewing a friend's letters of recommendation for a Fulbright Scholarship. I have been editing the content and grammar. In each case the individual writing the letter gives the appilicant's Cedulla number in the letter.
Is this normal in the DR? In the states you would never furnish your Social Security number in this manner in fear of identity theft.

Yes, it is fairly normal practice. It is contained in all legal documents that refer to a person. For example: A lease or a rental agreement.

Identity theft is almost unknown in the DR.
