Well first i need to say im sooo soo sad to be back home!!!
Ok so I arrived on the 12th flew in with Sunwing (wich i must say very good company) I arrived at POP airport and it went pretty fast had some friends pick me up and was off to my hotel Paraiso del Sol en Cabarete. I have to say thank god im not picky when it comes to hotels for me as long as they are all inclusive for food and alchool and a ok bed its all good! The hotel was pretty packed for a saturday but with mostly dominicans and then as of the sunday it went back down! We were seriously about 30 to 40 people in there. On the saturday i went to sosua to see some friends then off to the casino in Cabarete (nice to see that some of the people did reconigze me from my previous time living in sosua) . On the sunday spent a bit of time at the pool and then went to have lunch and supper at some friends house back in puerto plata and then we went to the Malecon. Monday i basicly walked around Cabarete and found it very interesting, had supper in a little restaurant did not catch the name of it but something with a cow lol!!! Then that night i just spent the evening watching the show at the hotel (wich was pretty good as they are all animators and not dancers i find they did pretty well) and sat around talking to some of the animation team! Tuesday went to sosua to rent a car and then at night went to mangu. Wednesday brought the car back and walked around sosua went to a internet cafe to see a friend meet some friends in a pica pollo back in cabarete and then spent the evening at the hotel! Thursday spent the whole day at the pool got a very nice dark tan (for one day of tanning im impressed!!!) In the late afternoon as my whole boddy was hurting by the sun burn i went to walk around the old school where i was volonteering meet up wiht some of the kids ahhhh they make my heart hache and beat! Took some of them for a late lunch and then went back to the hotel, at night went to the casino ! Friday played sports at the hotel and at night just chilled talking to other people.
I have to say I do have a loved one but it was the first time ever ive been to the DR and in a hotel where i can actually say I have meet a non sankie worker. (and before i get any replys nope nothing happened has like i said i already have a BF) Very nice guy, never saw him run after girls never saw him tell a sad story never saw him beg money seriously i even told him i think hes the only non sankie animation worker ive ever meet!
Beeing 25 and blond yes i did have some men harrasing me but nothing a big girl cant take care of!The hotel wasnt the best but it was fine for me for the price i paid i wasnt expecting a 5*. Not once did I not feel safe or worried. I was able to walk around and was smart and carefull like I would be back home. I like staying in Cabarete as where the hotel was located it was pretty calm and thats what I needed!
When it came to pay taxis and other stuff I spoke spanish and said i was from santiago so i never got screwed with prices as i already knew what the rates where!
I have fun and I loved it, I felt I was home again!!!!
