Could we have a forum on poetry?
Sorry, but I don't know who is the person I should contact about this.

I am waiting for a reply from those in charge.I would loooove a forum on poetry. me encanta la poesia hispana.
Very, very close. (I am not to know it)Great idea Norma, and thanks for the poem Mirador. And what a great grammar exercise. I can understand and can realize the poetic nuance.
I feel I've come a long way in learning Spanish, and more should be posted since I'm not inclined to buy a spanish poetry book!
But like english poetry, at times, I'm stumped. "No lo he de saber" is a pretty advanced grammatical construction with "haber" and probably defies direct english translation. Its either "I am not to know (it)" or "it is not no know".
Am I close, Norma? Mirador? Lesley?

I had to analyze this poem for my AP Spanish Lit test...and it left me pretty stumped...any thoughts?
I can't do forum but I can do a sticky. If you want a forum you must contact Robert.
This is great, Mirador. Thanks.
I suggest you start with Mexican poet Sor Juana In?s de la Cruz, espacially her poem titled, El Primer Sue?o. Here's an excerpt of the poem which runs about 1000 verses. Her image is in Mexican 200 pesos bills. I include below a picture of her from a contemporary painting...
Piramidal, funesta, de la tierra
nacida sombra, al Cielo encaminaba
de vanos obeliscos punta altiva,
escalar pretendiendo las estrellas
Si bien sus luces bellas
exentas siempre, siempre rutilantes,
la tenebrosa guerra,
que con negros vapores le intimaba
la pavorosa sombra fugitiva
burlaban, tan distantes,
que su atezado ce?o
que al superior convexo aun no llegaba
De el orbe de la diosa,
que tres veces hermosa
con tres hermosos rostros ser ostenta
quedando s?lo due?o
del aire que empa?aba
con el aliento denso que exhalaba:
y en la quietud contenta
de imperio silencioso
sumisa s?lo voces consent?a
de las nocturnas aves
tan oscuras, tan graves,
congojoso sud?, y rindi? forzado
y aquellas, que su casa
campo vieron volver, sus telas yerba
a la deidad de Baco inobedientes,
ya no historias contando diferentes,
en forma si afrentosa transformadas,
segunda forman niebla,
ser vistas aun temiendo en la tiniebla
a veces sin pluma aladas...
No soy yo la que pens?is,
sino es que all? me hab?is dado/
otro ser en vuestras plumas
y otro aliento en vuestros labios.
Sor Juana In?s de la Cruz (1648-1695),
Ivanita, I am interested on your thoughts about it.

Mirador, I love Sor Juana In?s ("El F?nix de M?xico") but what is your logic behind your suggestion? I am not saying that your are wrong, just give me your idea behind it. I posted a poem by a Dominican poet not just because I like it, but also because these forums are about the DR. I hope, however, that we might have the freedom of posting poetry in general (from the Spanish-speaking world). My hope is that those who are learning the Spanish language would also benefit from these poems as we analize them and talk about the language used by the poets. Poetry is of difficult understanding to language learners (even to native speakers) so, choosing poems that are not too abstract, will only be in their benefit.
