We are going to Punta Cana the second week in August and have a few resorts to choose from. I have personally stayed at the Ocean Bavaro in PUJ and thought it was quite good, didn't have any problems while there. The food was alright the restaurants were decent, nobody got sick etc.

So let me explain what we are personally looking for. This trip unlike my last trip (just me and girlfriend) will be with 6 other people. All of use are in our early to mid 20s (21-25). What I'd like out of our trip is a fairly decent resort with average to slightly above average rooms, and good resort layout to hang out with friends, walk around / explore etc. Also we would like our disco to either play some american hip hop/R&B/Reggae etc (although i do realize that we might not get that much of it, it would be nice if we could request it). Resort should have plenty of bars located around the resort (dont want to be far from our drinks), good food, friendly service.

The Resorts that we are looking at are:
Ocean Bavaro
Occidental Grand Punta Cana
Bavaro Princess
Barcelo Punta Cana
Grand Oasis Punta Cana
Punta Cana Princess

Please put these in order from best to worst as they are all in the same price range. (so best bang for our buck)

P.S - It would also be nice if we could find a resort with a good population of english speaking workers/vacationers last year we were the minority by far, and it was a bit akward at times, but no big deal!

I suggest you:
Ocean Blue/Sand (not Ocean Bavaro) - all junior suites, rooms have jacuzzi
excellent service, 7 min walk from reception to the beach, 2 big pools, several bars (lobby, mid-section sports bar 24/7, bowling bar, 2 pool bars, beach bar and beach restaurant bar).
Several a-la-carte restaurants (no res needed) with good food, coffe shop a-la Starbucks, with frappucinos, etc., good food selection at the beach restaurant.
They also have a climbing wall. Great Pool. They serve Chivas.
Excellent value for money.

Sunscape the Beach - nice resorts, good bars, strong drinks, the pool runs along the resort, but only waist deep. You can drink bottles of Chivas.

Riu palace Punta Cana - all junior suites, rooms have jacuzzi, room service included, 5 minute walk to the beach, several a-la carte restaurants (reservations required) including Brasilian Churasscaria, bars: lobby, piano par, sports bar 24/7 (all lobby area), beach bar. Free wifi at sports bar. No Chivas, less premium drinks selections.

Ocean Blue and Riu Palace PC are on the top, followed by Sunscape the Beach.
Of course there are other great resorts (Paradissus, Royal Service at Melia, etc.) but they cost much more.

My wife I were just at the Gran Bahia Principe in Bavro. Very nice. Very simliar to the RIU Place in Mexico. Kinda laid back. All rooms are junior suites. It is an AI so the food is generic, but no complaints. Rooms and resort very very clean. The service is good and the people are nice. I just uploaded our pictures so if you would like to take a look let me know and I'll send you the link. Just IM me. Oh, Kenny G is big there LOL. They do have a disco, a Casino and shops on the property.

thanks Phil & Gerry

With a party that large why not rent a Villa and hire a chef? Cost will probably be close if not cheaper than an all inclusive deal

My vote is for Sunscape. Great for the price, pool, bars, proximity to beach, and in their disco the DJ mixes merengue/bachata with american. Animation team will teach you a latin-type line dance. Lots of fun!

I would love to hear from people that have stayed at the Occidental Grand Flamenco. We will be staying at the First Club there.

Definately Sunscape the beach.. I was there in June for two weeks and as soon as I came back I booked up again for January 17th. I loved every minute of it, the sun, the pool, the drinks, the food, eveything. The entertainers are all lovely too, they used to queue at the bottom of our loungers every morning to give us a kiss n cuddle. The guys tried so hard to make it a special holiday. Can't wait to go back!!

Lel, you mean guys like people, or guys like men?

Are you a woman? Please, don't get sankified. Read a sanky forum here on DR1.

You're not returning back because of one of the "guys" are you?

From your list, without a doubt the best services and facilities are at the Grand Palladium Bavaro, but it is in a massive complex, that's the downside.:ermm:

I would go for the Iberostar, we have stayed at several Iberostars in the Caribbean and they always give excellent service!
