A little ways away in Constanza it can get cold, although it's not like it happens frequently...

wow, that's still pretty warm. I was expecting something like 50 degree nights
There are days in the winter when it gets very cool in the evenings and night in Jarabacoa. However, the Constanza valley does experiences below freezing temperatures a few times each winter with small streams freezing completely and the temperatures up there are cool compared to the rest of the country with a nice cool wind blowing from time to time. Constanza is probably the only place on the entire island where a sweater is needed during the nights year round and sometimes even during the day. Jarabacoa has more of a subtropical weather vs. the lowlands with much more humid tropical weather and desert-like in some places in the southwest.

What makes Jarabacoa considerably more comfortable than the lowlands is that it has a low humidity level and that is the number one factor in being in a warm climate and comfortable vs. uncomfortable.

Just visit the place and experience it for yourself. That's the only way you will be 100% sure if Jarabacoa's weather is right for you.

jarabacoa nice. temperatures just as i like it. hard to believe DR has places that ever get cold...this fahrenheit scale, i don't get why americans insist on using that... but surely 60 is still warm? 15C, right? does it ever get BELOW 0C (that is 32F)?

five degree difference makes a Dominican pull out the US winter coat. I have been here three years, and have not seen a cold day yet. Gone to the mountains and its beautiful weather unless its the rainy season. What st rinks are the bad roads , police protections and dishonest politician, otherwise it be a heaven.

One of these days there might be a honest man /women in the presidential chair that it not out for his gang.

The weather statistics displayed here represent the mean value of each meteorological parameter for each month of the year. The sampling period for this data covers 30 years from 1961 to 1990. I have been in Jarabacoa in February and March and the weather was great but at 0500 AM It was definately cold enough to want blankets on the bed, and wear a light coat at night. As you can see from the chart January is usually not too wet, about 91 mm(3 1/2 inches) for the month.

Thanks Bob.
Your graph illustrates perfectly the point I wanted to make, and that's that there is no rainy season in this country.
Not in the mountains, not in the North, not in the South.
It's a fig Newton of people's imaginations.
Whenever it rains at a lot, they say it's the rainy season.
For it to be classified a rainy season, it would have to happen every year at the approx. same time, and be radically different to the dry season.

Do you always have to make negative remarks of some kind in all of your posts? This thread is about winter temperatures in Jarabacoa, so why on Earth do you have to include politics comments and your negativism?
