Economic accomodation in Santo Domingo

Hello to all of you,
I'm looking for a low budget to mid range-accomodation in Santo Domingo (in or near to the colonial city) for one person. I'll stay for one month, so I hope to get some residence reduction. Does anybody has any suggestions? Does anybody has experience with university student's accomodations? I prefer a familiar atmosphere. I do speak Spanish.

PS: If you go to Las Terrenas: I can recomend Las Casitas en el Jardin Secreto - it is wonderful!!!

Hotel Mason Gautreaux is located near El Malecon and the Zona Colonial, is quiet, clean and very secure, also prices are very reasonable, tell them that you want to stay for a month and they will give you a great deal. (809) 687-4856
