I am also a tour guide and a Dominican American that has lived in Santo Domingo for more than 12 years. I also have grandparents in the Vega with spacious homes, if you are interested in the country town experience, I recommend it and my overall my fees are really cheap. I pretty much guide tours for pleasure! But I have never had individuals or groups complain!
I am extremely professional and always want people to have a great time.
Also being a local that has a solid knowledge of the city, I know many places and spots that are not too common to visit or that a guide that only focuses on the main tourist attractions will not show you.
