Many places, including the condo where I live, require a deposit to confirm the reservation.
We use PayPal and wire transfer, but much prefer PayPal because it costs less and gives us immediate notification.

Another option ask them if they accept your Paypal. But they may not, as it is not easy for DR paypal members to withdraw money from Paypal (must go to a US bank account).

Scotiabank's charges are excessive and if you wire in more than $US10k they will 'hold' the funds without interest until you can prove the source and application. They once held in excess of $US35k for more than 3 months, despite taking my bank statements, salary slips from abroad and construction plans for the house I was remodelling. At that time, they used to charge $US40 to receive. I know use Santa Cruz who charge $US10 to receive.
