I'm going to be in Boca Chica in January and I want to visit Jarabaoca. Is it reasonable to do a day trip? It's just over 100 miles and I'm hoping I could get there in 2 to 3 hours spend a few hours and get back before dark. I was thinking of renting a car, I haven't been to the DR for 30 years but I do speak some basic Spanish and have driven quite a bit in Mexico in the past. I guess I could also just hire a driver if the cost is not prohibitive. I lived outside of Jarabaoca on the road to Pico Duarte in 1975/76 and I want to see if I can find the house I lived in and see how the area has changed. Even though I'm staying at one of the dreaded AIs (because I got a good deal) I'm not a timid traveler and plan a couple of trips to Santo Domingo where I lived in 1975 for three months.

I wish I was going

I am visiting Boca in February and would love to take a day trip like that. If there is anyone interested in taking such a trip in Feb, I would be happy to split the costs.
