new scotia bank credit card = free airfare?

Would the knowledgable members please evaluate and comment on the new Scotiabank / American Airlines rewards card providing AA miles, dollar for dollar, with ALL purchases WORLDWIDE, in both USD and DR dollar. This would seem to effectively provide free travel for some ... is this too good to be true? Is there anything else like this at other banks?:surprised
