Hodelpa Gran Almirante Hotel & Casino or the Marriott Courtyard in Santiago?

I am looking for a nice hotel, with safe clean rooms, and most importantly a great location! I want to be able to walk to everything, if possible. Which hotel is better for location?

EDIT: Sorry CHANGE THE DATE...lol

I did not realize that Carnaval is that weekend...we will probably wait and go in March...but still, any recommendations on the hotels?

Hotel Rotunda is on Feb27 at the northern entrance to town, 350rd a night, clean but not fancy.

Gran Almirante Hotel & Casino is your best bet.

It is about the same price and is an excellent hotel. The location is way better than the Marriott.

By the way, when the President goes to Santiago he stays there. At least the crook Hipolitto was always there.

But you can't walk to many places unless you are one he!! of a walker...
I think, for you requirements, a top of the line room at Aloha Sol would be better.

BUT, Santiago is a large place and the Centro Leon is a far piece for either of your choices as well as mine...
However, restaurants, and meeting places are nearer, as are several of the more popular places to shop.
Since taxis in Santiago are cheap and a/c'd you could stay at the Gran Almirante knowing that you'd taxi everywhere...for RD$100....
