To answer the OPs question ......... You need to apply for the Temporary Residencia first. As you obviously have good Spannish you could ring up the Migracion office 809 508 2555 ext 253, get them to send the documentation for applying & check with them as to how long it will take. I would suspect (if you have all the information to hand & fully translated to their needs) that it would probably take about 6 months (give or take a month or two for the election interference!~!) ~ Grahame.
