Hello,
I searched this site and found the driving directions, but they were posted in 2002. At that time, they discouraged any short cuts avoiding Santo Domingo, and reccommended PC-SDM-Autopista N. to SFM turnoff-Nagua-Samana. I was wondering if that still is the fastest route, or if since then, some of the back roads are in better condition, and possible to travel, to save time, avoid SDM, and have better scenery?
Thanks,
Jorge

Take a plane! Why spend 10 hours on the road (at least, maybe 12 is more realistic--both ways: ie. 6 to get there and 6 to get back...)

However, some people are using the new highway from Santo Domingo...you go right at the sign near the toll booths....might be an adventure...

what new highway?

New highway form Santo Domingo? Sure we'll give it a try. What highway and toll booths are you talking about exactly?
Also, we're renting a car, because we will be using it to go see other areas on the way back, and there are 3 of us, so it works better than flying.
Thanks,

If you do not know the area, get in touch with one of the good taxi companies there in Juan Dolio or Boca Chica and rent a car and driver.

Driving in this country is not for the meek or newbies...
