Right

poor dominicans

Another case of the few screwing it up for the many. But they have brought it on themselves. I feel sorry for the ones that really want and have the means to travel. And intend to return to the DR not overstay/never return, but this is what has caused the problem in the first place.
Also why visa's take so long to obtain

No For Transit Yes for a Visa

My gf (she's a Dominican citizen) and I are planning a trip to Paris in september, she's a U.S. resident, does she need a visa to stay a few days?

Hello...To simply put it..She wont Need a Visa for Transits as long as she does not leave the airport and has her Resident Card with her.
If She Plans to stay any amount of time from 1 day to 90 days she will need a visa, but since she has a US resident card its pretty easy to get. They will need to provide a whole list of documents(Like RT Tickets,Hotel reservation,Insurance,Letter from Job,Bank Statements or invitation letter plus fee of $82 dollars) but the visa is pretty much guranteed if she provides all these documents vs if she didnt have US residency status this would make it much harder
Good Luck!

Insurance? Invitation letter from who? If all those papers are in order, how long does it take to get the visa?

French Visa

Insurance? Invitation letter from who? If all those papers are in order, how long does it take to get the visa?

Insurance
covered for any medical expenses, hospitalization and repatriation for at least $45,000 during your stay in Europe. If your current insurance company does not provide such a coverage, you have to find an international insurance (do not forget to ask for the letter mentioned above).
If she doesnt Have this insurance she can buy it for about $20 dollars
at Travel Insurance: Travel Guard - Trip, Medical/Health & Accident Coverage

Invitation Letter
She will only need an Invitation Letter if she will not be staying in a Hotel and will be staying in a Home of a Friend or Family..The Letter must state that she will be staying for X amount of days in your House
Its Called Attestation d?Accueil must be obtained at the City Hall in France. The original needs to be stamped by the consulate to be valid and must be presented upon arrival in France
She will also need a letter if she doesnt have enough money in her bank account and you will be paying for this trip. This Letter must be notarized and you must show proof of income.

I would suggest you just make regular hotel reservations and once she gets the visa cancel them.

If all Documents are in order..she could apply for her visa in the morning and recieve it the same day in the afternoon. That is only if all the documents are in order.Otherwise it can take between 1 business day to 2 weeks.

If you have any other questions just ask.
Best Wishes
