If its ok with you and the moderator perhaps this can be transfered over to the "Haitians in the DR" thread were the subject has been touched on and I think it would fit very well there. As for the article I agree that until the Dominican constitution is modified on the question of who is a citizen by virtue of being born there, what is happening is an injustice.

There is at least one falsehood in the Article. Haitians born in the Dominican republic are automatically Haitian Citizens. Under the Haitian constitution Haitians born anywhere are Haitians. If the Dominican Republic was to allow all illegal Haitians to have their children become Dominican citizens the amount of illegal Haitians would swell greatly causing huge problems for the Dominican Republic. This American organization should concentrate on problems within the states, of which there many, or help Haiti become a self reliant country. Many of the problems in Haiti are caused or made worse by the US government . It is easy to feel sorry for these poor people and children that are being raised without an Education, but they can go to the Haitian Embassy in Santo Domingo and register their children and receive a Haitian Birth certificate that will list their place of birth as the DR. Children need a birth certificate to go to school, they do not need a Dominican birth certificate.
