    Default Interest Rate Hikes?

Are the CD rates at the central bank poised for a rise?

Nop, in the contrary it is heading a downward way so if you plan to invest some money in the CD better do it now before it gets more low.

Banco del Progresso went from 12.5 to 5% inside of 60 days. Mortgages at 16%. Yet the peso/US$ is holding. Really weird.

    Default Why not??????????????????

If you have $$$ invested, you should be hoping for 12-14%. After all a loan or mortgage will cost 15% +. The interest rates are set by the Gov. The banks would love to be able to give their customers more. It would increase their $$$ flow.

Aside from replying to a 14 month old thread the Central Bank website still says they are not issuing new CD's.

That announcement was posted in September of 2009.

    Central Bank of Dominican Republic

Banco Central de la Repblica Dominicana
