I know water is not potable. What about the ice (in case I buy some nice wine at the supermarket)? What about the other water? ocean? do we
need to bring water shoes or is it nice and smooth. Any thoughts on which
side of gran bahia principe is nicer...punta cana or bavarro?? Any thoughts
will be much appreciated.

All of the ice you buy in bags or consume @ a bar is purified, look for the hollow center. I am fairly sure the Boone's Farm is in the refridgerated section, so no need to chill, just twist off the top and you are good to go!

Punta Cana and Bavaro are the same, basicaly just to different reception areas that then share all amenities. Is actually a little confusing the first time you are there as both reception areas are virtually identical too seperated by the theater area. As far as i am aware the rooms you would be assigned are also identical. If you do require a few perks upgrade to diamond, however the rooms are very far from the beach and pool areas and apart from a diamond club only swimming pool i am not sure if the advantages justify the cost. I would recommend taking a look on tripadvisor reviews for a little more info.
