Anyone can recommend books on modern Dominican history ( 1850-1950)? In English, Spanish or French.

Right on money! It is fundamentals. Great book , of course I have it along with Dominican Haven:The Jewish Refugee Settlement in Sosua, by M. Kaplan, Columbus's Outpost among the Ta?nos: La Isabela, 1493-1498 , and The Imagined Island.

but maybe anything else that I am not aware of?
Especially in French. The Haitian aspect of the history of Hispanola practicaly is not covered.

'Why the Cocks Fight', by Michele Wucker is in English, but covers Haiti as well as the DR.
