If you are referring to the "overstay fee", then it is RD$300.

15 Days - 3 Months: $300 Pesos
3 Months - 9 Months: $500 Pesos
9 Months - 1 Year: $2000 Pesos
1 Year - 1.5 Years: $3500 Pesos
1.5 Years - 2 Years: $4500 Pesos
2 Years - 2.5 Years: $6000 Pesos
2.5 Years - 3 Years: $8000 Pesos
3-5 Years: $12000 Pesos
5 Years+: $15000 Pesos

Just bring exact change in pesos, or you will wind up arguing about what the rate "should be" for USD, and trust me it's not 34 in POP!

You have to pay first, to the right at the cashier, not on the PASSPORT line.

We are not discussing "Departure" tax here, this is the overstay fine.
If you have a ticket on a scheduled airline to the US the departure tax was already paid in the ticket.

So when they ask me in the passport line, as they have in the past, how long have I been here, when I answer 8 weeks, do they send me to the cashier? Or do I just on my own go to the cashier first?

Of all the times I've been here I've never paid an overstay fee - don't think I ever was here more than would require it before.

I was charged $6,000RD for 1.5 years in May. I'm told it is $10US a month. I left the day before election day. Wearing a Lionel tee shirt did not help.
