Is there any printed local English newspapers in SD?

So far i see nothing.Very surprised so far how un expat friendly SD is, even the ew furnished apartments i have seen have no supplies/dishes/ironing/laundry nor window coverings.
Not complaining just very shocked.

It probably is that expats are quickly integrated into society. Santo Domingo is a very open and friendly society. DR1 evolved from The Santo Domingo News, the English language weekly of the DR. When the possibility of publishing a daily online came about, the printed newspaper (very expensive proposition) was killed.

Thanks for reply, the open friendliness is great but as far as expats quickly being emersed in society remains to be seen for me as the lack of furnished apartments and no english paper makes it a difficult process getting set up both personally and office staffing.
Quite amazed a city of this size cannot substaniate a printed paper.
Any advice is welcome

Thanks!

Read through the pages of DR1. Search the forums, the knowledgebase, the articles section -- all with links off the front page. Furnished apartments are available at the apartahotels. DR1 serves the role of the English paper.
