I?m a 25 year old swedish gril moving to Dominican Republik, I?m new here and hope anyone out there can healp me!!

I?m going to Santo Domingo for 3 months. I fly in next week, Saturday the 4th of October... that?s soon!! and I am planning to stay in Santa Domingo to study Spanish fore 3 mouths.
I?m hoping to find a good, not to expensive room to rent, maybe in the zon colonial, just wondering if any of you maybe have any contacts? Do any of you know any good hostel, (not hotel, if not very cheep) for my first days in Santa Domingo, where I can stay until I find myself a nice room? I?m a budget traveller so don?t have that mutch money to speend.
As you notice I need all the tips I can get and if you have the time and energy to help one lost Swede, I will be very grateful!!!!
