Info on bringing along personal protection

forget it, not possible without big connections, even then it is very difficult.

Do you have to buy the unit or just the map?

A good buddy of mine who is an ex cop did just that 5 years ago and they still haven't returned it to him.

Not sure what you have planned for your vacation, but very few tourists would ever have need of a firearm here. A pure guess, but I doubt 10% of full time expats here have a firearm.

Carrying a gun & any attitude that may go along with it is perhaps more detrimental to your safety than walking the street unarmed. If you're coming during the Christmas holidays, private citizens are banned from carrying guns in public - it would be confiscated if you were seen with it. You also wouldn't get into a casino or many bars that pat you down prior to entry.

Who brings a gun on VACATION??? Where did you go for your last vacation...Iraq?? :ninja: The only personal protection you may need is condoms!! ...and sunscreen

during dec 1st - jan 1st all carry-permits for firearms for private persons are supended, only military and police stays armed (and the bad boys of course, lol).
at many pub;lic places like i.e. Bars, Carwashs, Banks, Casinos aso it is anyways against the law to carry a gun, even with carry permit.
and there is not one resort in PC which allows it's guests to carry a gun, they are private properties and do not accept any gunpermissions, they have their own private rules and do not allow guns.
to bring a gun across the border is impossible,
not even connections would help unless you are a person under a special protection.
and heck,
even me myself don't carry the gun when jumping in the pool or ocean, whatcha need that for??
