Where are the *itty bars at?????? me and a friend were looking a place called bonsua or something like that thats supposed to be on 27..we could not find the place. if someone knows...drop me some locations and reviews...private message if needed. im not sure if im breaking the DR1 laws here.

try walking [or driving] up and around Avenida Independencia. you will probably be harassed by all the working girls on the street, just ask them where to go. chances are you will be directed to a brothel/bar. There are plenty of those all along or close off Av Independencia so good luck and watch your back. Not meaning to scare you but just be street smart when you go to these places.

There are indeed a good bunch of working girls on Independencia around it's intersectin with Pasteur. And there are a couple of "gentlemen's"-clubs right around that corner too. However, hookers are not the only ones out after sundown around these hoods, and I thus do not recommend to a tourist to just "hang around" seek their "luck" on these streets at nite. Especially, DO NOT follow street hookers and other "instant"-loves or their "relatives" "home", nor take them to your hotel where all your "stuff" is.
If you go to a "club" with the intention to stay for a little more than a show, go lite and carry just as much cash as you plan on spending or loosing anyway.

I agree with JD, be extra careful when walking around at night....just be street smart, handle your business and move on.
JD I was at la Casona Dorada right in the middle of all this craziness, which is why i suggested that area for the OP, even at night I didnt like walking to the casinos as the working girls would harrass or the hustlers! LOL
