We'll be staying at Occidental Flamenco Bavaro - just wondering if anyone has any advice or input on anything we should know prior to arriving. Also - does anyone know if this resort offers transportation to the resort from the airport? If not - we'll be using a taxi - any advice there??

Thank you much
Linda

All resorts offer ground transport. Its usually included in the price, even at the non-all-inclusive resorts.

Might want to check these places:

Palma Real Shopping Village

Manat? Park B?varo

If you like history, book the Santo Domingo tour. It doesn't get any more historic in the Caribbean than there.

If you want to experience a jaw dropping beach (Robinson Crusoe type of place) book the Isla Saona tour.

For peek into remote countryside living do the outback tours.

Everything you could ever need/want to know is available at every resort. Usually in the lobby they have plenty of pamphlets and people with info on places to see, what to do, etc.

Be forewarned, most places to see are hours away.

Thank you for the info - so are you saying that we should not need a taxi and basically look for the bus that is provided by the resort?

i would say the opposite, buddy.
no resort here offers groundtransportation.
most touroperators have the groundtransportation in the vaca-package, but that's not done nor organized by the resort, that's the touroperator's organization.
many online vacation booking packages exclude the transfer.
one possibility is to grab a cabby at the airport after arrival, they are present 24/7 at the exit of the baggage claim, you can't miss them.
the other possibility is to prearrange a private transfer for you and your family, such costs for the occidental grand flamenco a $5.- more per ride compared to the cabby. the driver will await you upon arrival with a sign in his hands and brings you to your hotel. prearranged transfers can be requested on companies like IBK Servicios Turisticos with their head manager Bronly on info@ibkservicios.com
the rate from the PUJ airport to the occidental flamenco should be in the range $35.- - $40.- per ride for up to 5 passengers including all their luggage.
welcome to paradise

to check if your vacation booking includes the transfer you need to check your booking papers, there should be shown what things are included in the rate you paud for your vacation, like hotelname, roomcategorie, all inclusive drinks and meals, transportation aso.
have fun
