Hi, I first want to thank everyone for their insight on what part of the DR to go and where to stay, we greatly appreciate it.

We finalized our trip in March and decided on Cabarete & to rent a Villa. There are a total of 6 guys from NY who are in my party and are all about 28yrs old.

Now that our plans are set we are looking to find out what spots (bars/lounges/clubs) to go in Cabarete/Sosua during our stay from Thursday-Monday and if there are any places that are better on a particular night?

We look forward to your responses.

Thanks again!

I think you will find that it's quite easy.
In Cabarete, just walk along the beach and you will find a rather hip atmosphere of beach side lounges, fine dining restaurants and not so fine ones too. The usual Latin rhythms may be interrupted by Jazz sounds here and there too. A lot of guys and gals in your age, many of them here for nautical sports. Some locals too, if they are young and gorgeous, likeliness has it that they are at least semi-pro (dating wise) but usually not as obvious as in Sosua.

In Sosua you will find a huge mix of bars, restaurants, discos, dancings, clubs and redlightish places on Pedro Clisante and some alleys off it. Again, the vast majority of gorgeous and some not so gorgeous locals will be semi-pro or clearly professionals.

Don't go places or let yourself being taken places you have not had the opportunity to check out at daylight first.

Main bars/discos at night on the beach in Cabarete... all within 3 or 4 minute walk directly on the beach... nothing really gets going until between 11-midnight. All open until 3am. It's inconsistent which has the most people on any given night, but since so close to each other it's easy to figure it out.

From West to East:
Lax - casual, almost lounge type atmosphere.
Jose O'Shays - Irish sports bar. Live music after 10pm at night.
Bambu - disco/bar playing reggaeton, hip hop, some latin music
Onno's - disco/bar playing reggaeton, hip hop, some latin music
Calamar En Folie - Latin music nightly... merengue, bachata, salsa
VoyVoy - Karaoke night on Mondays, Ladies' Night on Thursday.

there are also 2 casinos Playa Chiquita and After One Disco/Casino which is located by sosua Bay hotel for any after hours fun. but IMO anything after 1 a.m is probably not worth it or greedy working chicas looking to score as many men as possible.

Why was After One closed, and how long will it remain so?

The only reason for After One's existence was for folks to have a place to party once the curfew shut most things down on the strip. Now there's been a gradual slackening of the curfew and that need no longer exists, as the discos are able to stay open much later.

I doubt if After One will open again because there is no longer any need for it.

I was in Sosua for 10 days in October and After One was open went a few times --- anyone know when it closed? It was my 5th time in D.R. 1st in Sosua and I was kinda shocked at the "nightlife" if ya know what I mean
Going back in April (yayyy!!) DEFF one of my fav night places is in Cabarete (rented a condo on the beach this time)..lots to chose from; if you dont like one place you just walk over to the next one (me and my girls are in our mid 20's btw so we prob enjoy similiar things)

Jose O'Shay's

Hi,

We spent most sundays at Jose O'shay's. It seems from reading this forum, that they are forwned upon by a few locals due to higher prices. THis may be, but they also show every NFL game all year, as well as many other sports.

If you want to watch NFL we recommend Jose Oshay's in Cabarete.
