If its not to late, I would recommend Higuey, Mira cielo hotel. Very nice rooms, but a hours drive from Bavaro. As far as i am unaware there are no bed and breakfasts or non-inclusive hotels in Bavaro. Im sure someone will correct me if im wrong.

Good luck

La posada de piedra in El Cortecito. It's a bed & breakfast (it was before the renovations) and it's not an all-inclusive.

I forgot the name of the hotel located across the street right in front of La posada de piedra. Maybe you can rent all-inclusive but you can rent a room only in that hotel.

As for Mira Cielo hotel in Higuey, I've never been there but I don't like the location, I prefer the Don Carlos location.

Posada de Piedra has since the reno no more rooms for rent, it is just bar and restaurant, a good one btw, but no rooms.
the b&b acros the street is named Cortecito Inn, 50-60 bucks per room per night, breakfast by the pool included.
there's a bunch of non AI hotels in PC, but no need to name 'em here on the thread which asks for cheap accomodations, the non AI's here are the more xpensive ones.

Hope this isn't too late.

We stayed at Cappucino Mare in Bavaro for 4 nites. very nice place, around $40-45 a nite for 2 in a King, includes a light breakfast.

There is a VERY good Italian restaurant on the premises, and a nice deli.

We will stay there again next trip to the area.

Robert,
hope next time you drop a call when down in eastern town.
never stayed at Cappucino Mare, can't comment on it,
the area offers new spots on monthly/nearly weekly bases in addition to the existing ones, i know that Cappucino Mare only b/c they drop me automated e-mails once in a while, but never been there. where they are located?

Will do.

It's located next door to Ferreteria Marba (sp?).

darn,
i know the place, did not know how they name it.
it is also located nice close to most stuff in the bavaro area, not long of a ride to anywhere.
rates sound very reasonable.

Stayed at both Mira Cielo ($60 US) and Don Carlos ($41 US). Both perfectly fine hotels. Don't expect anything near a 5 star, but perfectly clean and fine. Don Carlos I would agree is more centrally located so you can walk around. You can't do that at Mira Cielo.

A number of us would all agree that we where given a great hotel for 5 nights from the organizers of the Cap Cana Championship called Hotel Flamboyan (809-552-0372). At $34 a night it had only single Rooms/Bed which was very clean and comfortable ,Hot Water,A/C, fridge, and entire staff was very pleasant. The rooms with a small balcony on the first floor was a nice touch. It has a nice small caf? on the ground floor for breakfast/etc. Directly in front of the building on the main street side is a great local bar and restaurant and has a great Dominican charm within the owner, staff, music as well as the food which they provide.
The area is very safe, and has all the local bars, mini marts, casino etc.. Directions are easy, as it is located across from Bavaro Plaza and 50 yards from the entrance of Bavaro Princess..
PM if you want any other night locations of interest in the area!

Capucino Mare was also arranged by the Cap Cana Championship organizers.
