You will have to get her a social security number. She should be eligible for benefits. Though I got my daughter her passport thru the consulate in Santo Domingo, I found it much less hassle to take care of the Social Security stuff in the U.S.

but did they hassel you here?

No...I didn't give them a chance.
For me, going to the consulate for anything is an extreem hassle. I bypassed them and went to my local social security office where I was treated with respect and my business promptly taken care of.

I remember that we had to go to "Camara de Comercio" located at Edificio Hache in Santiago to get a paper work (form) them we had the interview with the consul at "Dominico Americano" in Santiago and two months later on my way to SDQ to pick up one of my frequents customers I drooped off my wife in front of the American consulate in Santo Domingo to pick up the baby?s pass port.

That was easy...

If your meeting was on Apr 7 I'm surprised you haven't received the passport by now. Assuming they have all the info they need , I would expect it any day now.

I had an appointment yesterday with the Social Security office in the embassy consular section on M?ximo G?mez in Santo Domingo. It was no hassle at all.

You identify yourself to one of the people wearing a yellow polo shirt with INFO on it and you are directed to the US citizen line. The line was very short. The non citizen line stretched back to the gas station.

You cannot bring cell phones into the consular section.

I don't get it :ermm:

How does a baby benefit from retroactive social security benefits?

Or is it the parent that is looking to squeeze a little more from the "public tit" by adding a dependant?
