Looking at the Labour code we have been unable to find the clause that covers the following question. My wife has a teacher that hurt her ankle on the weekend, so not work related. She is in a cast and the doctor says no work for 25 days. What are the legal requirements as far as paying this employee, time limits. At present my wife has had to hire a replacement and continue to pay the injured person. Fair enough, cost of doing business, but what if the doctors say 3 months....etc.

An accident which is not work related represents no obligation for the employer, except for those employers that do not provide health insurance coverage for their employees.

Work related accidents licenses are paid by the employer, reported to the Labour Risk Office, and this one reimburses the employer for that expense.

This is how I interpret the law and I give no guarantees.
