Looking for advice on hiring a good woman to take care of an elderly lady -- help dress her, walk with her, feed and bathe her, etc.

How can I find someone trustworthy at short notice? What should I expect to pay her per hour / per day?

How concerned do I have to be about theft and other nonsense from domestic help I just hired?

Thanks in advance.

word of mouth is the only "assurance" not much guarantee, where do you live? SD, Santiago,PP, this will determine $
stealing is ongoing so don't leave anything valuable

PP, word of mouth from whom? In other words, how do I go about finding someone?

From your friends whom you trust. Their cleaning lady might have a relative who is looking for work, for example. I wouldn't advise doing this in too much of a rush: take your time and only go on the recommendation of someone you trust.

If by PP you mean Puerto Plata, then you need to contact your network of friends to get someone locally who has a reputation for reliability and honesty.

Only the people whom you know and trust can help you with this.

And unfortunately, the bigger the rush you're in the more likely you'll choose someone who is wrong for the position.

Here are some tips to guide you through the process...

Hmmmm. I see the problem.

What's a good hourly wage for this kind of help?
