I have scheduled a trip to Casa de Campo for the end of June. A number of people have told me that it is not safe in the Dominican Republic, right now. Is this true? i would appreciate any info you have. thanks.

I have never felt unsafe at all in the DR. I am usually in SD, which I assume would be less safe than a resort town such as Casa De Campo. In fact the relatively few problems I've had have mostly been with drunken tourists, either American or Italian.

They might be saying that because it is election time, and is possible that some people (because their candidate didn't make it), will protest on the streets; and that happens more often in the capital city Santo Domingo. You will be miles and miles away from there in a beautiful resort, and if anything happens, you won't even notice. So pack your bags and enjoy it, just follow safety rules like when you go anywhere else.
