Hello, I'm looking for long term rentals in Cabarete for about 6 months from Nov 2009 to May 2010.
I'm looking for a two bedroom with A/C and internet.
Any information would be highly appreciated. Thanks so much :)

My budget is $600-700/mth and the most important things are reliable internet and A/C.

It is more likely you wouldn't feet in this budget with you requirements. I can suggest to search for 1BR.

Well, if that is the case I'd be willing to increase my monthly rent budget so that I can get a 2BR. :)

Check out Coconut Grove at Playa Encuentro...a little outside of town, but right on the "surfing" beach if you're a surfer. I think the 2BR's go for around $650-700... the other likely options are the pro-cab area, or somewhere east of town. Keep in mind you are looking at high-season.

Thanks for the info. I guess I would go as high as $900-1000/mth to find a decent place in a reasonably safe area in Cabarete.

At that price, you'll have have better luck and should have a bit of selection... There's a member here on DR1 named Keith that has a 3BR condo in Royal Residence...he hay rent the 2BR lockout for that price...and it's in the center of town...electric and internet shouldn't be a problem.

Keith's apt is now rented long term for 12 months but I am aware of other 2 bedroom units that are available in Royal Residence.

Is Coconut Grove east or west of the surfing playa? Do you consider the area safe?

price to purchase ???

just out of curiosity. What would these 2br's in Cabarete that rent for higher than $700/month sell for ? What other expenses are involved ?, What is the avg. rent there ? what is the vacancy rate ? Strictly tourist rental ??

So I found a place, what's next?

So after a long research I finally found a place. What does usually come next?
The problem is that we're here in Canada and cannot travel to the DR until Nov when the beginning of the rental should start.
Does it work the same like in Canada, lease agreement and so on?
Would really appreciate some practical advice on this one. Thanks in advance.

We found a house in Cabarete. Between the casino and the police station on the main road and they accepted our dog as well. Looks very nice and well kept.

Thanks for all the advice Windeguy :) We'll go for a beer when we get there.

That will be up to the person leasing the apartment to you. It is best to have a lease that clearly states the responsibilities of both parties. You might pay the first and last months rent up front and a security deposit as well. But once again, you will need to talk to the people with the apartment to see how they do it.

Where did you finally decide upon?

Internet Connection Installation

Hello everyone. I do have another question and looking for some info and advice. :)
The house I will be renting in Cabarete doesn't currently have an internet connection.
I will need the best available internet connection in order to run my business while I'm in Cabarete.
  • Is high-speed internet available cable or dsl and what are the providers?
  • What is the average wait time for a new installation?
  • How much does it cost?
Your help is much appreciated :)
