You're talking about my home state, which is quite beautiful, tremendously mountainous (we joke that if you flatened WVa we'd have an area bigger than Texas!) and filled with down-to-earth and generally kind folk. Perhaps that's why I could feel at home in the DR, esp. up around the Jarabacoa area.
