I have heard about the Gavilleros from the 1920s and I find it interesting that this country has been able to stand up to so much BS time after time. La Republica has suffered too much, but no one can?t argued that this country like many others of Latin America has never lost its pride.

What or who were they?

Gavilleros was the name by which the Dominicans who fought against the Americans invaders of 1916 were known. They were mainly in the eastern side of the island and according to historians they gave the gringos fit. The last thing and American soldier wanted to hear was he was being relocated to that region. El lambonazo de Trujillo made a name by himself fighting against them (the Gavilleros).
