Villa Alekzander seems to have come back to life and clean up is underway. Helped by the wonderful Juan Dolio police department directing traffic, a 30 or 40 year old tree was fallen. Perhaps no big deal? It was however home for a colony of small birds, some 50 or 60 nests were on that tree and just last week I stopped there in awe watching the areal ballet performance of these 300 or 400 birds...Its all gone....Guess in the name of progress and probably a fifty under the table. Shame!:eek:gre:

My husband I loved that tree too! I loved watching and listening to the birds. When we saw that it had been destroyed, my first thought was "What happened to all those birds? What about any babies in those nests?"

It's pathetic!

Anyone remember these lyrics from "Paved Paradise"?

"They took all the trees, and put em in a tree museum
And they charged the people a dollar and a half to see them
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got till it's gone
They paved paradise, and put up a parking lot"
