I need some help, please, from anyone who's traveled from Santiago to Las Terrenas:
1. Is it an easy drive and how long does it take?
(I'm used to driving the new highway between SD and LT!)
2. What is the best route?
3. Which bus could I take instead?
Thanks so much for your help!
:)Susan

There are 6 buses a day to LT from Santiago, more or less. PM me for details.

The way I do it is take autopista duarte toward san francisco de macoris. Drive through san francisco to nagua and then east towards sanchez. You will see the signs by the gas station that says las terrenas. Total drive time for me has been 4 to 5 hours depending on traffic.

No,it's a small operator and the bus should go all the way to LT (at least that is what it says on the windshield).
The CT busses pass through Sanchez only, from there you take a guagua over the hills.

If you want to save 40 minutes on STG/LT

At el Abanico turn right (there is no other choice)
Villa Riva
First on left arriving at Villa Riva
First on left again to Arenoso.
todo drecho.
your arrive autopista SDQ/Sanchez at km103

mountain pass

If you take the mountain pass (short cut) use a lot of caution as the road is quite dangerous , i would only take it during the day and with no rain in the forcast.
