I came to Michigan almost 2 years ago to go to college. I'm two hours away from Detroit and Chicago, an hour away from Grand Rapids, and probably the same time from Ann Arbor...
I haven't seen any Dominican store, restaurant, hair salon, or anything... there's a Mexican store that has some Goya products and Platano but there's nothing like feeling somehow like "at home" around your people and your food. There are a couple places that play some Latin music on Thursdays, probably just reduced to one though (I haven't been there)...
I haven't been in Grand Rapids but from what I have heard there is a massive Dominican concentration there, Dominican stores and restaurants, so I might visit sometime soon!
If anyone that's around the area wants to meet up sometime will be good to share stories and experiences over some "Spaghetti con Frito" (To say something) and I'm sure it will be a lovely reunion.
