Directors, members and volunteers of AAAS (Association of the Friends of the Animals of Sosua) are ultra busy planning and preparing for the next operative in the continued aim to sterilise as many dogs/ cats possible to humanely control the animal population here on the North coast.

On Saturday, 5th September, Dr. Anne Chauvet and Dr. Diane Levitan will arrive from the US with staff assistants Nick, Missy and Denise plus camera crew, Shelly and Jim who aim to film the operative for TV production.

The first surgeries on the animals will commence immediately upon their arrival, working Saturday afternoon and into the evening at the clinic.

Sunday, 6th September is ?THE MAJOR DAY? and will be devoted totally to the spaying and neutering of a very large volume of dogs. This big day is when the whole team will move operations and equipment to Nuevo Vida, El Batey/ Playa Chiquita in order to have more space, better facilities and therefore operate on far more dogs than the Clinic could facilitate. However, being away from the Clinic environment means that there are many requirements for a ?field? operative and this is where we are appealing to all animal lovers and supporters of AAAS for some assistance.

Are there any fit persons who would be willing to help with the loading and unloading of equipment on Sunday morning and help also with the return of equipment on Sunday late afternoon ? this does mean a 7 am start from Judy?s Pet Lodge but is, of course, just a one off request? We are also seeking a volunteer to monitor the bathrooms at Nuevo Vido during Sunday ? anyone prepared to offer their services for this task?

There are many simple needs too but they are all of great importance and cost money, so any contributions or monetary donations will help us insure the success of this event. Needs are (in no particular order): clipboards (x 10), name tags (x 25), trash bags, paper towels, toilet rolls, hand soap, alcohol hand lotion, cartons of orange juice and anything else which is appropriate.

In addition, we are seeking to borrow (and return) any portable animal cages/ crates for transportation of the dogs/ cats to and from the venue and also to contain them during their recovery period from surgery. If you have one or more to loan, please label it with your name and, if possible, drop off to Judy?s Pet Lodge during the coming week.

On Monday morning the surgeries will continue back at the Clinic until after lunch when the veterinarians and their team will fly back home.

The aim is to spay/ neuter 100 animals over this 2 day period ? a huge task but one that everyone is determined to achieve and, please remember ?every little bit helps, no matter how small the gesture?.

A reply on this thread is welcomed as is a PM to me for more info plus offers of help or donations can be directed to Judy at the Pet Lodge, (next to Coastal filling station), tel. 809 571 1167, email info@aaasosua.com and check out the website Asociaci?n De Amigos Por Los Animales De Sos?a, Inc.

A big "thank you", in advance, for your help and assistance on behalf of the Association and the animals.

That was prompt!

Opened thread on your request

Many thanks.

I want replies to this thread on the forum (as stated in the original post) as it shows support for the cause and compliments the dedication of the people involved but also felt people may also prefer to have the option to PM their ability/ desire to donate for very obvious reasons.
