Who is the best telephone provider if one needs to call cell numbers from landline use.

Does any of the big companies here offer packages that allow for cell phone calling without the big expenses.

Someone told me tricom has this? any feedback would be welcome

Tricom allows you to use minutes to call all fixed phones DR-wide, cellulars on Tricom network, as well as the US and PR.

The best bet is to have a plan with mobile carrier, a minute to call cellulars with taxes included would cost you less than 4 pesos. This is not the case for prepaid cellular plans (tarjeta) though, there the cheapest option is Viva with 5.60 per/min with taxes.

I combine Orange and Tricom, for 2.700 pesos with taxes total per month I have 1.500 minutes on Tricom to call all fixed lines in the DR and US, and 1000 minutes on Orange to call any cellular in the DR and all DR numbers and USA/Canada/PR numbers.

One of the good thing is my Tricom phone is WILL-system (wireless fixed) and I can haul the phone anywhere I go and make calls from there.
