I just received my first residency card with my cedula here this week (the yellow Permiso Residencia Temporal). I have been living down here for over two years now, and I plan on continuing the process to get a permanent residency next year.
My problem is that I have obligations in the US that I can't avoid which need me to be there for a little over 6 months (leaving end of September, returning mid April). I am worried that this could have an effect on my residency process.
Does anyone know if being out of the county for that length of time causes you to loose the Residencia Temporal? What would that mean for the whole process? Would I still be able to go for the permanent residency next year, or would I have to start over?
Any insight would be appreciated.
