Can a US Company do business in the DR? What permits / taxes apply? We will be importing items for sale within the country. Is it necescary to start a separate business here in order to do this?

Thanks!

You need to use the search function. Must be 500-600 threads on this topic.
Also take a look at the Trade, Legal and Business sections of this website.

You need to be a legally registered Dominican business in order to conduct business here.

When you have very specific questions, come back here and I'm sure we can help.

a better direction

Make sure to include in your research a call/email to CEIRD which has departments dedicated to various business areas. They have funding to assist foreign investment. Also, if you're planning even a small business with a market cap under a few MM/year, hire a good attorney.

Good luck!
