Was justing reading through the CIC's immigraton facts from 1984 - 2008 for Permanent and Temporary Visa's. Some very interesting statistics about the number of people admited to Canada under family and other classes, many are broken down by male and female. One stat I found interesting is how many people have immigrated from a specific country from 1999-2008. In 2008 there were 414 people admited to Canada as permanent residence from the DR. Then I thought to look and see how many people were admited from the other countries that Haiti processes and are as follows...

Haiti 2,509
Dominican Republic 414
Guadalope 22
Martinique 15
and the other countries do not appear. This may tell us what exactly they are busy doing in Haiti and why it takes so long to process the applications.

The majority of permanent residence from south america and the carribean go to Quebec or Ontario. There were 89 foreign workers admited to Canada from the Dominican Republic and 49 from Haiti in 2008. Students granted study visas in 2008 137 from Haiti and 44 from the DR. Humanitarian admisions 3000 and 4907 refugees came from Haiti to Canada in 2008.

This just gives us an idea of what the immigration officers in Haiti are busy doing with their time. We are kind of at the bottom of the pile so to speak.
